Barrinique Griffin
Barrinique has an impressive range of experience in academia, the Nova Scotia tech ecosystem, and as an entrepreneur herself. Barrinique is a professional with a passion for start-ups. Majoring in Entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University and as designated Valedictorian of her graduating class, Barrinique spearheaded student engagement programming at the Sobey School of Business and went on to found and lead the SMU Leadership Summit.
Barrinique is the co-founder of Black is the New Black, a grassroots initiative she started in 2018 that focuses on creating spaces for BIPOC young professionals. Through this venture, she hosts events centered on entrepreneurship and mental health for the community. In Barrinique's role as a Business Advisor, she led the design and delivery of numerous programs and provided business development advisory services to local entrepreneurs. Currently, Barrinique is the Program Manager at Dalhousie Emera Idea Hub. Barrinique plays a critical part in designing the range of programs offered to engineers including undergraduates with fresh ideas to venture founders preparing to bring their physical products to market. From creative session design to digital program curation, and from facilitation to post-session coaching and debriefs, Barrinique helps more founders learn the skills and mindset it takes to be innovative and entrepreneurial in the Atlantic Canada tech ecosystem
